Who is the Programme for?

 

4-week English Programme in Christchurch, New Zealand for primary and secondary English teachers from Catalonia, Spain. (minimum 16 and maximum 20 trainees in a group)

 

What’s the timetable of the Programme?

 

The Programme will run for four weeks from 5 July to 30 July 2010, 23 class hours a week.

 

What are the aims of the Programme?

 

1.       To brush up your English language and teaching skills

2.       To freshen up with New Zealand education system in a multi-cultural society

3.       To enrich you personally

 

What are the three key contents of the Programme?

                   

1. Intensive English Course

 

·         English language – general and specific to speakers of Catalan/Spanish

·         Teaching methodology and workshops

·         Guest speakers/lecturers

·         School visits and class observation

2. Homestay with Kiwi Teacher Family

 

Teachers from Catalonia will be accommodated in homes with New Zealand teachers for the following advantages:

 

·         Fast improvement in English fluency in 24-hour English speaking environment

Antarctic Centre: experience the Antarctic life and storms; visit the world’s smallest blue penguins; the history and eco-system of Antarctic explained by an Antarctic Penguin Police.

 

Maori Marae: bi-lingual education, experience Maori welcome ceremony, haka dance, Maori carving and weaving, interaction with Maori teachers.

 

Tree Planting: teaching of environmental awareness; leave a lasting natural memento of your visit to New Zealand for future generations.

 

Weekend trips and activities (at your expense): visit Mt Cook, wild west coast, Fox Glacier, blue penguin colony at Oamaru, whale watching and seal colony at Kaikoura, skiing at Mt Hutt, TranzAlpine train tour, Queenstown, Milford Sound, winery tour, indulge in Hamner Hot Springs, watch Rugby game, etc.
